Both Monolite monoculars have a 36 mm objective lens and weigh approximately 275 g. The key decision is therefore not about weight: would you prefer to see a wider area or get a larger view of a distant subject?
01 / CHOOSING YOUR MODEL
With a field of view of approximately 131 m at 1,000 m, you can see a wider stretch of landscape. This helps when scanning your surroundings or following moving subjects. Hand movements are less noticeable at 8× than at 10×.
At the same distance, 10× makes a subject appear larger. The visible area is narrower, however, at approximately 108 m at 1,000 m. A steady hold or a support makes viewing easier.
A simple guide: If you are still searching for your subject, 8×36 has clear advantages. If you already know where to look, 10×36 may be the more appealing choice.

Choosing the right magnification is only part of the decision. Easy access, eye relief and focusing also affect how comfortable a monocular is to use on the go.
The clip lets you attach the monocular to your belt. This keeps it ready to hand without having to open your backpack every time you want to observe something.
The textured surface helps you hold the monocular securely. Keep a relaxed, steady grip on the body before bringing your subject into focus.
The twist-up eyecup has three click-stop positions. Adjust the eye distance for viewing with or without glasses; focus using the eyepiece adjustment.
Multi-coated lenses reduce reflections at the glass surfaces. Together with the prisms, they influence light transmission and image contrast.
Both models are approximately 124 mm long and weigh around 275 g. Choosing between 8× and 10× therefore makes no significant difference to weight.
The multifunctional pouch holds the monocular during transport. The carrying strap offers another way to keep it with you on your journey.
04 / A LOOK AT THE OPTICS
Both versions combine phase-corrected BaK-4 roof prisms with silver coating and fully multi-coated lenses. The magnification differs, but the underlying optical design is shared.
The graph shows measured light transmission across wavelengths from 380 to 780 nm. Each point describes part of the visible spectrum, rather than reducing the entire viewing experience to a single number.
When choosing, it is worth considering both measurements and real-world viewing: contrast, stray light and eye position also affect the perceived image. The curve is therefore no substitute for looking through the monocular yourself.

06 / FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
No. Higher magnification makes the subject appear larger, but narrows the visible area and makes hand movements more noticeable. The right choice depends on what matters most to you when observing.
The three-position twist-up eyecup can be adjusted. Specified eye relief is 18 mm for the 8×36 and 14.5 mm for the 10×36. Try it with your glasses to check that you can comfortably see the field of view.
It indicates protection during temporary immersion under defined test conditions: 1 m for 30 minutes. It does not mean the monocular is suitable for diving or any level of water pressure.
Both models have a specified close focus distance of 5 m. The Monolite series is therefore not the right choice for subjects at shorter distances.
