Compact, lightweight and easy to handle - the EDX 12x50
The open bridge allows the EDX 12x50 binoculars to be held comfortably and operated securely, even with gloves in winter. Materials such as magnesium, aluminium and polycarbonate provide maximum robustness in difficult terrain while keeping the weight exceptionally low: just 902 g at an overall length of 175 mm. Their compact construction makes these binoculars a comfortable companion. The slim housing is covered in grippy natural-rubber armouring for durability and excellent grip and slip resistance. The exceptionally robust metal-alloy eyecups provide optimum protection for the eyepieces, and the binoculars are waterproof and fog-proof. The entire focus range can be adjusted precisely in just 1.5 turns, allowing even the smallest details to be brought into focus quickly. The dioptre adjustment for glasses wearers is on the right eyepiece and can be locked after setting.
Innovative coating ensures razor-sharp outlines
The EDX 12x50 reproduces detailed images at the highest resolution currently achievable, without edge blur. This is ensured by the special DDlucid coating additionally applied to the two roof surfaces of the Schmidt–Pechan roof prism. Originating in the Japanese photography industry, this coating is a further development of the well-established ELR coating (Extra Low Reflection). DDlucid is one of the most effective binocular coatings. At present, only premium binoculars feature similarly advanced coatings.

Explore the distance
The EDX 12x50 is ideally suited to viewing at long distances, for example in the mountains or across large areas of open countryside. It is intended particularly for hunters, ornithologists and mountain hikers. With these premium binoculars, mountain hunters can assess chamois by their horns even at distances of 200 m to 300 m, largely eliminating the need to carry a heavy spotting scope. Ornithologists and mountain hikers benefit from the 12× magnification and close-focus distance of 2.4 m. The EDX 12x50 makes it possible to observe both nearby and very distant subjects with exceptional colour brilliance, sharpness and precision.
A full field of view for glasses wearers
Glasses wearers can comfortably adjust the eyecups to four click-stop positions to achieve the ideal eye relief without losing any field of view. These positions can be firmly fixed, and the clearly defined mechanism prevents accidental adjustment.
Premium optics for brilliant images and sharp resolution
Although the EDX 12x50 is based on the proven Schmidt–Pechan roof-prism system, the glass types used in these binoculars were newly developed. This innovative ED glass (Extra Low Dispersion) reduces colour fringing even more effectively than most ED glass used previously. The result is beautifully balanced, brilliant colours. The PHC 140 phase-correction coating, developed specifically for the EDX 12x50, suppresses 99% of unwanted wave-optical effects and prevents even the slightest blurring. Apochromatic correction (APO) suppresses colour fringing.
