Two podium finishes. In between: storms, hail and a competition that tested both people and equipment.
A European team title alongside Michael Münzberg and an individual silver medal: the 2026 Long Range European Championship in Poland made for a special weekend for Torsten Heine. His DDoptics DDMP V6 5–30×56 was with him throughout. But before the medals were awarded, wind, rain and difficult light put the team to the test.
A new chapter
at longer distances.
Thursday began with a visit to the local shooting range before departure. Then it was on to Poland, to the hotel and finally to the competition venue. There, the team set up its tents for the days ahead.
Friday was devoted to training. For Torsten, this day was especially important: he had previously used the new X-Out custom barrel on his Ruger Precision Rifle only at distances up to 300 metres. Now, paired with the DDMP V6, it had to prove itself at the longer competition distances.
Training went well. In his report, Torsten describes how the DDoptics riflescope helped him observe shot placement. Delays meant the final discipline took place at dusk – an early taste of the weekend's challenging light conditions.
When the competition
became a test of the weather.
Saturday brought the Sniper Open Triathlon at 300, 600 and 800 metres. Overcast skies, rain and strong gusts made it a demanding competition.
Torsten scored 96, 93 and 85 points across the three distances. With a total of 274 points and seven inner tens, he finished seventh in the overall individual standings.
The weather then worsened. Thunderstorms, heavy rain and hail swept across the venue, with storm gusts damaging tents. The later Magnum discipline did not begin until around 7:45 pm, as the light faded. Torsten describes his finish here as being in the upper midfield.

Torsten Heine and Michael Münzberg become European champions in the Sniper Open team competition.
Michael scored 269 points with six inner tens. Combined with Torsten's 274 points, Team Recoil Therapy achieved 543 points and first place.
For Torsten, this title means more than a placing. Michael is both his teammate and his mentor in long-range shooting. Training together, learning from each other and then sharing the top step of the podium: for Torsten, this was the most emotional moment of the weekend.

Sunday brought Sniper Open 1000+. At an actual distance of 1,054 metres, Torsten scored 84 points and one inner ten. The result: second place and individual silver at the European Championship.
At the medal ceremony, he was called forward twice: first alongside Michael for Recoil Therapy, then again for his individual silver medal.

Part of a strong team.
From training to the final discipline at more than a kilometre, the DDoptics DDMP V6 accompanied Torsten throughout the weekend. In his personal assessment, he highlights the scope's reliable performance in changing light and when observing shot placement.
A long-range riflescope does not win a competition on its own. Torsten's experience, Michael's support and the performance of the equipment all came together here. That makes us all the more pleased that the DDMP V6 5–30×56 was part of this success.
