Compact, light and handy - the EDX 8.5x50
The EDX 8.5x50 has an open bridge. With this reach-through, the binoculars can be held shake-free, not least because of their low weight of 868 g and a length of 175 mm. Even with just one hand and even in winter with gloves. Robust materials such as magnesium, aluminum and polycarbonate are used. The non-slip rubber armouring is made of natural rubber and thus not only guarantees durability, but also significantly higher grip and slip resistance. The indestructible eyecups provide optimal protection for the eyepieces, and it is also waterproof and non-fogging. With just 1.5 turns, the entire focus range is set precisely and even the smallest details can be captured quickly. The diopter compensation for spectacle wearers is located on the right eyepiece and can be set after adjustment.

Top optics for brilliant image display and sharp resolution
While the EDX 8.5x50 is based on the well-established roof prism system (Schmidt-Pechan), the types of glass used for these binoculars have been completely newly developed. This innovative ED glass (Extra Low Dispersion) reduces color fringes even more than is the case with most of the ED glasses used to date. The user has the advantage with perfectly coordinated and brilliant colors. The phase correction layer PHC 140, newly developed for the EDX 8.5x50, prevents 99% of all unwanted wave-optical effects and thus prevents even the smallest blur. A so-called apochromatic correction (APO) prevents color fringes.
Innovative coating guarantees razor-sharp contours
With the EDX 8.5x50, the optical image is reproduced in maximum detail and without edge blur according to the current state of the art. This is guaranteed by the special DDlucid coating, with which the two roof surfaces of the Schmidt-Pechan roof prism are additionally provided. This coating, which originated in the Japanese photo industry, is a further development of the well-known and tried and tested ELR (Extra Low Reflection) coating. DDlucid is one of the most effective binocular compensation. Currently, only premium binoculars have such a similarly sophisticated coating.
