Reference: Geometric luminosity.: The numeric value of the geometric luminosity is a calculated number following this formula: (lens diameter / magnification)2 .
The optical quality of the binoculars is not tied into this calculation. For this reason our Nachtfalke family is, despite its lower luminosity value of 39, significantly brighter than most 8x56 binoculars, which have a respective value of 49.

Characteristics / Specifics
- Very good light transmission and low losses (attenuation)
- Roof prisms with dielectric phase correction
- High index optical Barium-Crown glass
- No fogging of the internal lenses and prisms
- Twist up eyecups with five positions
- A particularly rugged metal body protects the costly optical and mechanical system from external influences and strain, resulting in a very shockproof and impact resistant device.
- Nachtfalke HD Xtreme Series is fully waterproof 8m head of water, achieved by means of special gaskets.
- A dry filling with nitrogen under pressure inhibits any fogging of the internal lenses and prisms. The internal pressure of the Nitrogen nullifies the effect of the external air pressure. The large size nitrogen molecules are spefically suited for this pressure filling job, since they, due to their size, cannot escape from the interior of the glass over many years.
- The use of high index optical Barium-Kron glass and the elaborate HDX-FMC-MgF2 hard coating of the lenses and prisms ensure a brilliant image of high chroma.
- The sophisticated phase correction improves the overall quality of the image and the light transmission by up to 9%. This fact promises you many appreciable hours while persuing you hunting target after dawn.
- n order to adapt the eye relief of the binoculars to the respective user, Nachtfalke HDX Series is equipped with twist up eyecups, which can be fixed in five positions (5 stop). The shape of the eyecups is designed to specifically prevent unwanted and annoying sidelight onto the oculars.
- The minimum close focus for the Nachtfalke family is about 4m. By continued adaption of your eyes you can view a distant area of 150m focused without readjustments.
- Despite their high magnification Nachtfalke binoculars offer a wide field of view of 70 -105m (value is a function of the magnification of the resp. glass). With this a dear will not easily escape your notice.

Ocular caps have to be tied up to the carrying strap.
